  • For a subsequent embezzlement charge of money/property worth $250 or less, you could face a prison sentence anywhere between 18 months and two and a half years in prison, along with a fine of $150-$600. This crime is considered to be a felony larceny offense.
  • Anyone who embezzles property/money/firearms worth $250 or more could face a five year prison sentence and/or a fine up to $25,000.
  • Embezzling trade secrets is punishable for up to five years in prison. Or you could face two years in prison along with a fine of $25,000.

There are also enhanced penalties for people who embezzle money or property form an elderly adult who is 60 years old or older. If you are a state treasury employee, a local city, town, or county official or bank officer, then you could also face enhanced penalties for embezzlement under Massachusetts law.
